What Could Possibly Go Wrong? Cutting Down the Patio Dogwood (#199)
Last fall we made a horrifying discovery: our beloved patio dogwood was rotted out and in danger of falling on the patio. We had to do the unthinkable, which was to cut it down. But this wasn't going to be easy.

    4:20 that panel made no sense. Once you fill the box with concrete that door will never be use again, ever. You would've been better off just taping around the inside of the door to keep concrete from flowing out. plus, you'll have less concrete in the box due to the channels on the panel. I'm I correct or did I miss something.

    Please understand that I'm not being critical of your review of this saw; it is more of an observation of your choice of this particular model. Given where you live; it appears that you have access to some good sized trees; far larger than this saw can COMFORTABLY handle. If this test was to show what this saw is ultimately capable of; then it was a good test. That being said; I would hope that you have much larger saws at your disposal. This coming from someone who has saws ranging from 6"-24". I REALLY like all of them; but there is a time and place for each of them.

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay 9 дней назад

      You could certainly do that but it means taking one of your hands off the control levers to operate the valve then adjust the thumb position with the outrigger lever. While it is an economical way to do it, I would find that annoying. I love the convenience and efficiency of being able to move the thumb while operating the other controls at the same time. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    The rock powder sticks inbetween the drill and the rock so if you pull the drill up a bit about ever 15 - 20 secs it will clear and make it easier then just punching in. Also you won't break the bit.

    I always like to watch your projects. I have a Kubota L6060 w/ BH92 (weighing @2000 lbs) and am using your measurement techniques. A 'potential' problem is I have 9 1/4" from the bottom of the stabilazer arm bottoms and the ground. Putting a 4x6, as you did, then just leaves me 5 3/4" for the wheels. I wanted to use 5" wheels, but won't have the room; would need 6 1/2". Any recommendations appreciated to be able to fit a 5" wheel. Also, I was able to find 4" wheels that hold 800 lbs per wheel and didn't know whether it better to go with solid steel casters or steel castors with the polyurethane outer coating. I did see that you went with solid steel wheels, but wasn't sure your reasoning. Which would you recommend?

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay 14 дней назад

      Hi David! Perhaps you could notch out the 4x6 by 3/4” to accommodate the 5” wheels. I wish I had used 5” wheels because the 3 inch ones make it hard to push. I have thought about modifying it to take 5” casters and may do that some day. I recommend steel casters. A rubber or polyurethane layer will create a flat spot after sitting under the weight of a 2000lb backhoe and make it harder to start pushing. Thanks for watching!

    • @davidolchewsky5365
      @davidolchewsky5365 14 дней назад

      @@DIYMyWay I really value your suggestions, Martin. Thank you! I actually did think about notching to allow 5" wheels and hearing your suggestion of going with 5", that's the size I'm choosing. As you say, I'll just notch out some of the 4x6 for the lowest points to fit into the wood. And steel wheels it is! I do have 4" steel with the poly coated wheels that I have a chipper sitting on. It's never created 'flat spots' on the wheels (sat an entire winter), but it's only 1/2 the weight of the backhoe. Thanks again, Martin. I'll try to make a video and post my project. You make it look so easy, but I know, from previous attempts, it's not as easy as one may think. If I do, I'll let you know.

    Pat's 210%. I've been using my pats for about 2 years it makes all the difference in the world, I have a 26hp compact tractor which is right in the sweet spot between small and large implements, and I have close to a dozen attachments, the auger and the crane arm aren't qh compatible, my ditcher is a class 0 all others are class 1 except my hogger is class 2, you can get pats in a class 2 configuration, but I just switched out my hogger pins for 7/8. Also I never run the locks or the crossbar and most of the time I don't run pats pin bushings just the stock snap pins work well enough and I've never had a problem.... I was going to weld washers on the end of the pins, but have never needed to.

    My Kubota manual says that you should: 4. After filling, reinstall the filling plug. 5. Run the machine a few minutes in order for the front-axle-case-oil to flow through the front-axle case. 6. Remove the oil-level-check-plug and check to see if the front-axle-case-oil flows out of its port. 7. If the front-axle-case-oil does not flow out, add the front-axle-case-oil through the filling port until it flows out of the oil-level-check-port.

    Isn't that a TR220 valve? I've never seen a rear tractor tube with anything but a TR220 or TR218(They just differ in length). The entire stem should unscrew from a 5/8" fitting to allow liquid to be pumped at a reasonable rate. Also fill with the stem between 10-11 o-clock so that you don't get a bunch of fluid every time to check the air pressure at 12 o-clock. That chart isn't accurate either, methanol is 6.6lb/gallon. Windshield fluid is usually a mix of soapy water and methanol, brands vary so weigh a gallon to know what you have. (Be sure to subtract the empty bottle weight.) Methanol wouldn't be used straight anyway it would be mixed with water. I like the weight and low cost of calcium chloride but the real problem isn't rust from the inside (The oxygen gets used up fairly quick and rusting stops, esp if the initial fill is with an inert gas.) The real trouble is the corroding valve that gets tiny little weeping drips which corrode the rim and all the lugnuts and such from the outside. Realisically, if the the traction difference over plain water density and or iron weights is a concern then you should be running proper agricultural tires rather than those industrial treads. Liquid density in front tires might be more critical because they are so under sized on utility tractors. Though many times iron wheel weights are hard to find for older machines as some fool let them get separated from the machine and overgrown in brush or sent them to a scrapper for $10 (same goes for many specialty implements).

      @@DIYMyWay oh wow that is sad to hear they went out of business! I ended up having to use the sawzall to cut enough room in my plastic shroud so I could finish installing the new shear pin. Also, everything was very dry so I started learning about greasing the zerk spots. However, one zerk appears to be broken so now I need to figure out if I can replace it.

    I put one on my riding lawnmower. One hand on the knob, the other holding my phone.

    Just stumbled upon this. I own a BX23s and something like this is what I have been missing. My backhoe stays in storage and only comes out when needed, so this will be perfect. Thank you for this video.

    Thanks for making these videos. I have a BX-23S and would like to know if there is a way to adjust or balance the hydronic pressures in the backhoe between the right stick and the left stick. It seems the left stick control is so fast and touchy but the right stick control is slow and sluggish. The linkages on each stick is plenty tight. I have to be very careful with swinging the backhoe left or right because it will swing so fast that it rocks the whole tractor and almost throws me out of my seat. With full stick deflection on the right stick the dipper or bucket curl motion is slow.
